Day 8 - Rangrik Bridge - " Rest Day"!

Could this be real! Here we were in a  monastery in the highest inhabited village in the world, being served tea and damper by the attending monk in between him blowing his 1,000 year old Tibetan long horn !

Given our rest day it was time to take on the role of the tourist as we drove to nearby Kibber reputedly the highest inhabited village in the world along a narrow road with terrifying drops on every corner

Our breathless activity included a stop at the village Monastery where we were entertained by the resident Monk - despite having blown his own horn over the years   Pete's effort to have a go at the Tibetan Long Horn were rightfully ignored !

Driving back part way we stopped at the amazing Keylong Monastery incredibly perched on a hilltop overlooking the valley

Our personal monk tour tour provided am amazing insight into the building, it's historical Tibetan scrolls and it's history including a visit by the current Dalai Lama !

From Keylong we headed back to Kasa and it's supposed working internet Cafe - in between power outages we soon realised that we'd have better luck communicating with carrier pigeons !

Well rested it was back to camp for dinner and an early evening by 8p.M.

Our campsite at Rangrik Bridge

Kibber Village - One of the highest villages in the world at 4,270 metres !
